Marina Magalhães is a seasoned performer and award-winning choreographer from Brazil, based in Los Angeles. This 5 min Dance Reel highlights 4 of her most recent projects: 1) "(UN)BRIDALED", a critically acclaimed evening-length dance theater experience created and performed by Magalhães and the cast. This work brings to life the stories of women- immigrants, brides and immigrant brides- on the precipice of change. 2) "Limbs", a spoken and danced solo choreographed by Maria Bauman for Magalhães that explores the philosophical questions of beauty and history surrounding large scale, majestic trees. 3) "Chrysalis", an evening-length dance work created and performed by Soul Lab Dance Project, an all-female dance collective that Magalhães co-founded. 4) CONTRA-TIEMPO Urban Latin Dance Theater excerpts, featuring the many pieces and tours Magalhães participated in as a long-time company member and Assistant Artistic Director.
